The halfway stage for In The Strange…
I’m half way through the new Sieben album, In the Strange. Five songs done, at least.
I’ve gone with the lithophone (that I sampled in Keswick museum, for Language For Stone) as an ever-present in the album. The mini Pocket and Monotron synths get a look-in too. And far more distinct song ‘sections’ are present than any previous Sieben songs. There are bridges, intros, indefinable bits, and all sorts going on 😉
My attempts to write ‘music as you’ve never heard it before’ high-ideal watered down to ‘music quite unlike what you’ve heard before’ and currently stands at ‘music that’s at least a bit odd’. And I’m keen to see if new surrounds and studio seep into matters.
The five completed tracks of IN THE STRANGE are:
In the Strange
Neptune Sunk
Make the Strange
Wish I didn’t Have to Eat
Presence (in the room)
I’m extremely pleased with the final results of these five tracks. Most have had several mixes already, and they’re sonically good. As always for me, they’re a departure from where I left off last time with Brand New Dark Age and previous works.
I’ve no idea when In the Strange album will see the light of day, but am pleased to announce that my good friend Giulio from Archaeological Records in Italy will be releasing this work. And you’ll hear all news on here 🙂
